Dive Brief:
- Lawtrades recently announced the release of a mobile application designed to make it easier for in-house legal departments to connect with freelance legal professionals on the company’s talent platform.
- The app is available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store and will aid companies in finding in-house attorneys and other professionals who can manage projects and handle legal operations work.
- “Our app further simplifies an already seamless process, connecting talented individuals with the opportunities that support their exact needs,” said Lawtrades CEO and co-founder Raad Ahmed in a press release.
Insight
The launch of the app comes during a time in which Lawtrades has significantly grown its business following an emphasis on better serving mid-market and enterprise companies.
Ahmed said he co-founded Lawtrades in 2016 with the aim of helping recent law school graduates secure remote legal gigs with startup companies, as well as small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs).
“We got a lot of these mid-market companies that would use us for like 10 to 15 hours a week, and then we would match the supply-side lawyer with multiple similar engagements,” Ahmed told Legal Dive. “So a company would be able to hire them flexibly and the lawyer would essentially get their desired work out of it, whether it’s 25, 30 or 40 hours [a week].”
Lawtrades’ customers have included Airbnb, Epic Games, DoorDash, Pinterest, Duolingo and Patreon. The platform also features more than 2,000 legal professionals.
