The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) announced it has appointed Saima Ahmed its executive vice president and general counsel.
Ahmed joins SIFMA from the New York Stock Exchange, where she served as senior director, NYSE regulation and head of the Market Watch and Corporate Actions groups.
Prior to the NYSE, she was a senior enforcement attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and was appointed to the Department of Justice as a special assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
“Saima’s extensive experience as a litigator, regulator and manager will be a tremendous asset to SIFMA and our members, as well as a complement to our outstanding legal team,” said SIFMA president and CEO Kenneth Bentsen, Jr.

ArisGlobal, a provider of life sciences software, announced it has hired Kathleen Turland as the company’s first chief legal officer.
Turland previously served as the first general counsel at FUSE Group. She also spent many years as in-house counsel at different arms of General Electric, including GE Capital.

The emerging Web3 technology company announced it has named Marcos Kraemer as chief legal officer.
Kraemer is a seasoned legal advisor with more than 15 years of experience as managing partner at a law firm in the Republic of Panama.

The organization focused on government policies impacting the economy announced it has named Karen Harned as chief legal officer of its Legal Action Fund.
Harned is a 20-year legal advocate for small businesses and former executive at the National Federation of Independent Businesses Small Business Legal Center.

Frontier Medicines
The precision medicine company announced it has appointed Mark Dizon as general counsel.
Prior to joining Frontier, Dizon was the assistant general counsel and chief compliance officer at BeiGene.
Before BeiGene, Dizon served in various legal leadership roles at both large pharmaceuticals and small biotechs, including Chiron, Novartis and Affymax.
“Mark has extensive experience building and scaling legal departments to support companies as they progress from discovery through commercialization, and this experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow the company,” said Chris Varma, Frontier’s co-founder, chairman, and CEO.
