Osano, the data privacy management software platform, recently announced the launch of its multi-level Privacy Program Maturity Model that businesses can utilize to help keep up with ever-changing regulations.
The model allows organizations to benchmark their existing privacy program, identify high-risk gaps and determine priorities to improve their programs.
“We’ve created a clear definition for how an effective privacy program works, and this model will support businesses in developing a program that is a central part of an organization’s operation and strategy,” said Arlo Gilbert, Osano’s co-founder and CEO.
The first step in creating a privacy program is often using data mapping to identify where data is and which systems contain personal information.
Osano said its new data mapping tool can help users visually understand where the personal data about their customers, users and employees lives.
The technology can also assist organizations in identifying how many systems and people have access to that data and for what purposes.
“Data mapping automation is the crucial catalyst to accelerate understanding the personal data organizations collect, use and share," said Brian Herr, Osano’s chief product officer.
DataGrail
The data privacy platform DataGrail announced a new Managed Services offering designed to reduce the burden of day-to-day data privacy management so that companies can focus on strategic efforts.
DataGrail Managed Services can handle customers’ data subject requests, known as DSRs, and assist with data mapping processes. DataGrail said its data mapping capabilities are enhanced by 2,000+ integrations.
Additionally, DataGrail Managed Services includes the company’s technical privacy experts serving as thought partners to surface key issues for companies’ privacy and legal leadership teams to review.
“Privacy management has become a big enough issue that businesses need help,” said Daniel Barber, DataGrail’s CEO and co-founder. “With DataGrail Managed Services, companies easily address the rapid changes in the data privacy landscape so that companies can be confident their DSRs are processed thoroughly and correctly so that their customers’ rights are protected.”
Sean Kellogg, privacy legal counsel at Dexcom, said DataGrail Managed Services allowed the company to go “from two employees working 20+ hours a week on requests to one employee working less than five hours a week.”
Dykema
The national law firm Dykema recently announced the launch of a Virtual Privacy Officer program to help clients manage privacy, regulatory and compliance obligations.
The initiative from Dykema’s Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group provides clients 24/7 access to up-to-date tools and resources for privacy and/or security matters.
Features include the drafting of, and advising on, language for internal privacy policies and procedures. The firm’s lawyers can assist with directing and coordinating regulatory filings.
The VPO program also provides intake, coordination and response to data subject rights requests.
“Exposure resulting from privacy and cybersecurity risks is a paramount concern for nearly every company in today’s business climate,” said Cinthia Granados Motley, director of Dykema’s global Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice. “Organizations can confidently rely on Dykema’s VPO as their go-to privacy and cybersecurity resource when looking for the best guidance possible for their business.”
Dykema’s VPO program is in addition to the Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice’s formation of a Pixel and AdTech Privacy Task Force that was announced earlier this year.
